MEET the Cooking Goddess

Namaste everyone! My name is Shilpa Anand, the face of the Instagram and Facebook page cooking_god_es. Welcome to my website!

HOW IT ALL BEGAN:

  The purpose of creating this website started with my mantra “INTRIGUE LEADS TO INSPIRATION”. My passion to create unique and diverse meals led to my curiosity and interest in multicultural food cuisines. This resulted in all of the inspiring dishes I’ve cooked so far along my cooking journey. 

I’m passionate about cooking authentic, diverse, easy, and multicultural cuisines. I especially love making and eating Indian desserts and street food. I am not a trained chef by any means and identify as a home cook dedicated to making delicious and flavourful recipes from scratch. Most recipes especially the Maharashtrian ones are legacy from my grandmother and mother both being excellent cooks. Other recipes are inspired and adapted from chefs and other home cooks and from having the opportunity to fly to different countries and taste the cuisines there. Hence a lot of international recipes have been tried and tweaked by me to keep their authentic taste. This blog was then created by me to be able to share my recipes with friends and family all over the world.

WHO AM I:

   I am full-time flight purser (cabin crew) with an international airline, I also work on the ground as a learning and development executive for the same airline. I’ve lived in Hong Kong for 27 years and am a wife and mother to two lovely daughters. 

WHAT ELSE:

   I also enjoy holistic living and follow a naturopathic way of life by making natural products without harmful chemicals and preservatives and with most ingredients being found in my kitchen. I have a very DIY attitude! Some natural products I make include; hair care products like hair oils and hair masks, facial scrubs and masks, and various herbal ailment remedies such as Kadhas (concoctions for common colds, coughs, etc).

When I am not excitedly trying out new recipes I can be found helping friends with party and event planning, especially in drafting menus and coordinating themed decorations. Another lesser-known secret about me is my flair for makeup and its applications. Whenever I have free time I am always honing my makeup skills.
